ATOMEXPO 2015
The VII International Forum
ATOMEXPO 2015 held in Moscow
on June 1-3, 2015, outlined the main
directions of the world nuclear industry
development.
Over 4200 people took part in the
Forum. More than 2,200 participants
from 47 foreign countries took part in the
business program, which is one and a half
times more than a year ago. The events of
the Forum included 16 round tables and
meetings devoted to nuclear energy. Over
600 delegates participated in the plenary
session “Nuclear Energy as an Impulse
for Socio-Economic Development”.
During the Forum, heads of the
largest Russian and foreign nuclear
industry organizations talked about the
advantages of nuclear energy, its influence
on social and economic development
of the countries and possible problems
connected with abandonment of nuclear
sources.
The Forum saw the signing of more
than 10 documents fostering Russia’s
international cooperation.
A specialized exhibition was
held at the site of ATOMEXPO 2015.
The exhibition was attended by 104
companies, including 29 foreign ones,
which presented high technologies and
products for the nuclear power industry
and related industries.
The next ATOMEXPO Forum will
take part in Moscow, in Gostiny Dvor, on
June 6–8, 2016.

Long-term Plan
The
World Association of Nuclear
Operators
(WANO) has published
Compass
, its long term plan for the period
2015-2019. The new plan is intended
to guide the organisation through the
next five years in a manner that supports
WANO’s existing activities, while paving
the way for the organisation to become
more effective in key areas such as new
build and end of life, life-extensions and
decommissioning of plants.
WANO’s work since 2011 has been
dominated by activities and projects that
were generated out of the organisation’s
Post-Fukushima Commission (PFC),
which was set up in 2011 following the
accident at Fukushima Daiichi. The
deadline for the completion of the PFC
projects is the 2015 Biennial General
Meeting of the organisation’s members in
Toronto in October, 2015.
Compass
is formed of four focus
areas, which each outline the areas of
work to which WANO will direct its
attention and resources over the next five
years. The focus areas are:
1. Continue to support and set the
standards of high performance of the
world’s existing nuclear fleet.
2. Build and maintain a highly-trained,
professional workforce withinWANO.
3. Forge a stronger WANO through
more consistent, credible products

NuScale Power has created a new kind of
nuclear power plant, an innovative design
that incorporates all of the components for
steam generation and heat exchange into
a single integrated unit, the NuScale Power
Module™ (NPM). The design eliminates
many costly, complex systems while cutting-
edge manufacturing cuts time and cost
of production. The result: a power source
that is simultaneously safe, reliable, scalable,
carbon-free, and economical.
