Our TLDs are also quite unique,
specifically assembled for each individual
application. We designed a custom TLD
for the San Onofre Steam Generator
Replacement (SGR) Project that utilized
hydraulic legs to lift the Generators up
and over the shield walls. For the Beaver
Valley SGR we custom built a parallel
semi-gantry system to lift the Generators
in order to limit the loads imposed upon
the Polar Crane.

What is the most innovative product
or service, supplied by Sarens for the
nuclear power industry?
In 2012 we completed construction
of the SGC-120, our 3200 ton-capacity
ringer crane. Built for the next generation
of super heavy lifting at nuclear plants,
the SGC-120 has a limited footprint,
low ground bearing pressure, and can
be transported anywhere in the world in
standard shipping containers. Designed
by our own engineers and proven in
the field, the SGC-120 is a reliable
and flexible machine well-suited for
new nuclear construction, as well as
decommissioning.

commitment and skill that a few can
offer. From engineering creativity &
expertise, to operational excellence, with
an industry leading toolkit, Sarens has for
nearly 40 years met the challenges of the
nuclear industry with solutions and team
members who possess an unwavering
commitment to safety, quality and the
environment. From the 1970’s when
we first entered the nuclear power sector
with the transport of Nuclear Steam
Supply System (NSSS) components to
today, building new plants with one of
the largest cranes in the world, our SGC-
120 – our work history shows that we
consistently and successfully respond to
the diverse and specialized challenges of
the nuclear power sector.
Sarens is an ISO certified
organization with a team of engineers and
operational staff who are well acquainted
with the unique challenges of operating
in a nuclear environment, executing
projects to meet industry and regulatory
standards. We support the construction of
latest generation power plants, complex
component
replacement
projects,
decommissioning efforts or erecting
spent fuel storage installations.
Our background includes directing
proprietary lift and transportation systems
to pioneer construction at Pressurized
Water Reactors (PWR) and Boiling
Water Reactors (BWR) nuclear power
plants. The systems consist of gantry and
derrick lift systems as well as innovative
transportation methods which enabled
the construction of the nuclear power
plants that are operating today.
