We’ll service your
nuclear reactor as if
it were our own
Not only do we design and build reactors, we're also the best
people to service and maintain them. For over 60 years now we
have been developing and designing reactors to produce safe
nuclear energy. As the original equipment manufacturer of the
CANDU® reactor and close affiliation with Canadian Nuclear
Laboratories, our full suite of engineering and field services
meets the highest safety and regulatory standards.
With such a breadth of experience comes a level of expertise that
proves invaluable in servicing both heavy and light water reactors.
Working with our Nuclear team makes business sense. Speak to
us about our reliable and innovative solutions:

side and complementing with secondary
side maintenance, including cleaning
where we remove sludge through water
lance or Deposit Minimization Treatment
(DMT), which is a chemical application
to remove some of the hard deposits from
the steam generators. Then we visually
re inspect the secondary side. This work
allows the generators to operate more
efficiently.
Utilities can complete these
maintenance activities every outage
or establish a preventive maintenance
schedule outlining which activities they
will complete during which outage. We
also developed a software tool called
Maestro
, which allows us to economically
project different models to allow the
utilities to make economic decisions
on when they want or should complete
routine maintenance. We can run various
models that show the net present value of
money and help utilities use science to
project economics.
Collectively, this work helps to
maximize the life of the component and
minimize the cost to the customer.

Concluding remarks.
Smith:
We have our four pillars of
operational excellence: safety, quality,
performance and delivery. Safety –
whether nuclear, industrial or radiological
– is our number one priority.
All of these technologies are driving
toward improvements in those pillars of
operational excellence. We’re constantly
working to enhance safety, efficiency and
quality. This work aligns well with the
industry’s initiative to reduce overall cost.
Vojvodic:
With automation, we allow
human analysts to be more productive
and to focus on the areas where they
do the best. Our analysts are among the
most diverse and most experienced in the
world as the result of the work on a broad
range of steam generator models meeting
different inspection requirements and
continuously supporting nuclear energy
facilities.
