time to process paper through the work
execution flow process. Time savings
result from not having to develop and
assemble paper work packages, manage/
transport work packages, purchase
supplies for work packages, spend time
finding work packages and the back end
handling and close out of those packages.
Resources are gained where craft enters
data once without having to populate
multiple fields with redundant data. The
ability to capture more notes for future
reference and retention saves resources.
eWPs place more information, documents
and work aids at the fingertips of the
worker than any previous generation of
work order. Resources are also gained
when work instruction revisions can be
performed in-field and documentation
can be added or updated to allow work
to continue. The eWP iPad camera can
also be used to record a verbal turnover
in lieu of typed or hand-written entries to
expedite work and viewed right from the
workstation or the eWP iPad itself. Shops
can dispatch more quickly at the start of
a shift as a result of automatic document
revision checks (validation) versus the
previous manual checks.
Transferability
Response
EPRI has developed an industry
report
by
following
Exelon’s
implementation that provides the
roadmap for other companies to develop
an eWP process. As Exelon developed the
business process flows for eWP a design
requirement was established to ensure this
technology is transferable across multiple
Work Management systems as a result of
Exelon having multiple systems. This
baseline function paves the way for a full
Exelon Fleet and industry adaptation. As
a result of our collaboration with EPRI
we have received and supported many
requests for benchmarking eWP from the
industry. Our collaboration with EPRI
has also gained Exelon a 2015 EPRI
Nuclear Technology Transfer Award for
our accomplishments with eWP.
