Further, work time is also reduced through the ability to monitor plant conditions in the field on a mobile device. By knowing the status of an area via video camera or live dose monitors, work can be coordinated and planned more efficiently. Additionally, the ability to trend radiological conditions overlaid on plant maps, allows Radiation Protection to perform more condition based surveys and reduce the frequency of routine surveys, thereby saving time and dose. Productivity/Efficiency Each year at a nuclear site there are great fluctuations in temporary staffing as personnel are brought in to support outages, and other planned activities. These personnel need an easy to use source of information which helps them quickly get acquainted with navigating the site. The digital plant viewer has allowed the workers to become productive immediately, and minimized the workload of site personnel to provide directions and guidance to the new contractors. During the outage, the Calvert Cliffs Outage Control Center (OCC) efficiently used the viewer to monitor ongoing work evolutions via the live camera feeds. Although live cameras were already installed in the station, having this functionality in the viewer gave each OCC member easy access to view cameras on Digital Plant Viewer on a mobile device.
