the OL3 project teams have achieved
key milestones and we have delivered
to our customer an updated schedule
for the project, including anticipated
construction completion in mid-2016.
Process commissioning will start at this
date and operations will begin in 2018,”
explained Jean-Pierre Mouroux, the
project director. “We are now building
the future and look forward to project
completion.”
OL3 is an opportunity for the other
EPR projects and all large projects
managed by AREVA to gain valuable
feedback that enables optimizations.
The EPR design, also under construction
in France and China, has gained the
recognition of their respective safety
authorities. Recently, AREVA welcomed
the European Commission’s approval of
the Hinkley Point C project, which plans
for the construction of two EPR reactors
in the United Kingdom. The reactors at
Hinkley Point C will be the 5th and 6th
in the series of EPR reactors and will
consolidate the leadership of French
nuclear industry in the third generation
nuclear reactor market.
