Contracts Major Component Replacement Bruce Power signed $914 million in advanced manufacturing contracts for its Major Component Replacement, which gets underway in 2020 and will allow the site to provide low-cost, carbon-free electricity to Ontario through 2064. The Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project agreements include:  $642 million to BWXT Canada Inc. for the manufacturing of 32 steam generators to be produced at BWXT’s Cambridge facility.  $144 million to Laker Energy Products for end fittings, liners and flow elements, which will be manufactured at its Oakville location.  $62 million to Cameco Fuel Manufacturing, in Cobourg, for calandria tubes and annulus spacers for all six MCRs.  $66 million for Nu-Tech Precision Metals, in Arnprior, for the production of zirconium alloy pressure tubes for Units 6 and 3. Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program, which started in January 2016 with Asset Management Program investments and includes the MCRs on Units 3-8, remains on time and on budget. Steam Generator Services Framatome signed a multimillion- dollar contract with Dominion Energy to provide steam generator services to the company’s entire nuclear reactor fleet. Scheduled to take place during eight outages from 2018 to 2020, the inspection and maintenance work will support the continued generation of low-carbon electricity from the Dominion fleet. The Framatome team will deploy Trident, its next-generation steam generator inspection system, as part of these services. This technology reduces dose and inspection time, while improving safety and human performance, by utilizing robots like the recently added FORERUNNER. FORERUNNER is a light, mobile robot. Its spider-like movements in all working positions, on horizontal or vertical tubesheets, easily adapt to different steam generator geometries. It can also calculate the optimal inspection path using an intelligent path algorithm, which can decrease inspection time by 30 to 50 percent. Framatome will service the steam generators during scheduled outages at the Millstone Power Station in Waterford, Connecticut; the North Anna Power Station in Mineral, Virginia; and the Surry Power Station in Surry, Virginia. Uranium Fuel Assemblies Framatome will be designing, fabricating and supplying EDF with fuel assemblies using enriched reprocessed uranium* (known as “ERU”) over the period 2023 to 2032 (1). These fuel assemblies, set to be manufactured at Framatome's plant in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme, France), will be destined for a number of nuclear reactors – belonging to EDF's fleet in operation – authorized to use them. Lionel Gaiffe, Senior Executive Vice President of Framatome's Fuel Business Unit, commented: “This contract is proof of the quality of Framatome’s industrial solutions and capabilities, and underlines the scope of the products and services HP-LED Nuclear pool light.
