Nuclear Plant Journal, July-August 2018 NuclearPlantJournal.com 51 the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), AMS has worked on instrumentation issues for small modular reactors and advanced nuclear plants and has identified a number of important I&C technologies such as:  on-line monitoring of oxygen content for corrosion control  New temperature, level, and flow measurement techniques for process control and reactor safety  on-line monitoring of neutron flux for anomalous reactivity insertion for reactor safety  electromagnetic pump monitoring for detecting impending degradations or failures Through a new project recently granted to AMS by DOE, work will continue on these areas with the goal to strengthen the foundation for I&C sensors and equipment and process monitoring technologies in support of the next generation of nuclear power reactors.
