It began with a simple idea: If more people, across the globe, had access to power, we could make the world better. But first, we realized we need to make the power better. NuScale Power is creating a new kind of nuclear power plant, one that is smarter, cleaner, and safer to improve the quality of life for all humankind. Our innovative concept features a small modular reactor (SMR) that is a scalable version of a pressurized light water reactor. It’s called the NuScale Power Module TM (NPM) and is capable of generating 60MWof electricity. Each NPM operates independently within a multi-module configuration. Should it become necessary, the NuScalePowerModule shuts itself down and self-cools for an indefinite period of time, with no operator action required, no additional water and no AC or DC power.
